Miranda Lambert leads in CMA nods
Miranda Lambert
Miranda Lambert leads the first round of CMA Awards nominations with five, followed closely by Lady Antebellum with four and Zac Brown with three.

Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins as well as newcomer Easton Corbin have two each.
Lambert is competing against herself twice. "The House That Built Me" and "White Liar" are both up for single and music video. She's also nominated for writing song of the year contender "White Liar."

Other song nominees include "The House That Built Me"; "Need You Now," co-written by Lady Antebellum; "Toes" co-written by Brown; and Corbin's "A Little More Country Than That." Lady A and Zac Brown Band are up for vocal group against Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts and The Band Perry.

Zac Brown Band also is nominated as new artist, up against Corbin, Luke Bryan, Jerrod Niemann and Chris Young.

The final nominees will be announced today on ABC's "Good Morning America." The CMAs are set for Nov. 10 in Nashville and will air live on ABC. ASSOCIATED PRESS

Lohan confides in Vanity Fair

In the upcoming Vanity Fair, Lindsay Lohan acknowledges making mistakes and "dabbling in certain things."

But in a July interview with the magazine before she served 14 days in jail followed by 23 days of inpatient rehab, she defended her actions, saying she was young and curious but associating with the wrong people.

"A lot of people were pulling from me, taking from me and not giving," said Lohan, 24. "I had a lot of people that were there for me for, you know, the party."

She says she'll do whatever it takes to fix her party-girl image: "I want the respect that I had when I was doing great movies. And if that takes not going out to a club at night, then so be it."

'Jersey Shore' star to cha cha cha

Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino leaves the Jersey Shore for the dance floor in the upcoming "Dancing With the Stars." He'll compete against singer Michael Bolton, Kyle Massey ("Cory in the House"), retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner, retired basketball player Rick Fox and David Hasselhoff.

And Baby will be coming out of the corner: Jennifer Grey ("Dirty Dancing") is in the cast, announced Monday, with singer Brandy, "Brady Bunch" mom Florence Henderson, Audrina Patridge ("The Hills"), comedian Margaret Cho and Bristol Palin.

Casting chief Deena Katz thought Palin was a long shot. But when Katz asked, "she packed up her truck and drove all the way from Alaska." MCCLATCHY NEWSPAPERS
